Somewhere Off the Coast of Italy

It was my first time on a cruise ship! I was going from Roma to Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean.

Boarding late at night for an overnight trip, I watched gigantic trucks and cars drive onto the lower decks of the boat. The long line of vehicles went down the streets of the port. It was amazing how many they fit onto the boat!

After finally getting all the vehicles inside, they let the passangers on the cruise ship. Inside the boat, you had everything you could possibly need-  bar, restaurant, cafeteria, casino, disco, playroom, bedrooms, and of course, a giant upper deck with a swimming pool. I never realized how huge these ships were, 12 floors total!

Staring out into the sea from the deck, I think to myself,

"Where in the world are you going now? I´m on a boat in the middle of the Mediterranean somewhere off the coast of Italy. How could anyone find me?" The sea was in every direction. I wouldn´t even be able to find myself on a map if I had to. The feeling was surreal, a mix of wonder, excitement, liberation and anxiousness

I arrived in Porto Torres at the break of dawn. Walking down the steets to find my hostel, the sun barely up, two growling dogs start running at me!

Yikes! RUNNNN!

I start running as fast as I can in the other direction. But I was no match for the two big dogs.  In my head, I´m trying to think if I have any food in my bag to offer to them. Nope. I scream! They´re just a few feet away... AAAAh!

They kept growling and barking. My heart is beating a million times a second. I think I almost had a heart attack.

Thank goodness they just barked and didn´t bite. I probably woke the whole town up at the break of dwan.

Eventually, the dogs got bored and left me alone. I continued walking. I could still hear my heart beating.

Then I started laughing. With such an adrenaline rush to wake you up, I was ready to start my day.
