Travel is my #1 teacher. And one of the greatest lessons that I've learned is to embrace the unknown—because it’s the surprises, the challenges, the curve-balls, the lucky strikes, the eye-openers and those simple little pleasures—that make life such a grand adventure! Follow along as I share with you my reflections, anecdotes, musings, stories, lessons and everything else in between.


ABOUT ME

My friends call me OJ, because I'm a badass and drink inordinate amounts of orange juice, but also (conveniently) because my initials are cool. My actual name is Olena Jay.

I have lived in 3 different continents, speak 4 different languages, and continue to always explore the world with my 5 senses.

I travel, write and dance. And when I'm not doing one of those, I nap. 


WRITING STYLE

I write stories. Many are funny. Some are deep. Maybe a few off-the-wall...

This blog is mostly of travel story-telling. I especially focus on incorporating humor, life lessons, emotion and satire. I try to stay away from fluffy generic travel writing. However, sometimes I do fall in love with places or things and I can’t help but gush about them.

I aspire to write like a modern day Mark Twain.


BACKGROUND

In one breath: I was born in Ukraine, moved to the States, lived in Chicago, studied abroad in South America, backpacked through Europe, roadtripped the U.S, and am always in search for new adventures.
